18th Birthday Scrapbook

Hi there

For my DD's 18th birthday I decided to do a scrapbook. Now believe it or not, I've actually had this scrapbook and the paper for about 8 years now (eek), as back then, I thought this would be a swell project to do slowly, over a long period of time.

Which it would have been if I had actually thought to do it. But I didn't. Which resulted in me throwing this one together in about a week. The. most. stressful. week. of. my. life.. Let me tell you..

Then of course, I didn't have time to photograph it properly, which means the only photos I have of it, were taken on my DD's bed the morning of the day she came home from Uni for her birthday. With my iPhone. Worst pictures ever. Ever!!

BUT. Despite that, I am still going to post them here, because, well it was my first attempt at scrapbooking, and although it didn't turn out the way I would have liked it to. It doesn't matter. Because, when I presented it to my daughter, she welled up and burst out crying like a banshee. She thought it was wonderful, and that's all that matters. That when you are doing a project for someone, that they think it is something special, They don't see all the errors or faults that you or I will see. They (hopefully) will see that you put your heart and soul into it's production, and that whatever it is you've made was made with love and TLC. And thankfully, that's exactly what my DD saw, and so it doesn't matter that it's not perfect and that the photos I'm going to show you aren't professional. Because at the end of the day the person I gave it to loved it.

The fact that she took it back to Uni and dismantled the whole thing to display the individual pages on her dorm room wall is enough confirmation for me.

So this is the first page. It's a photo of her when she was about 2 years old, dressed as a little chicken. And I (obviously) thought she was just the cutest little chickie out there.

A friend on the Papertrey Ink forum Leigh advised me to try and follow some sort of theme if I had never done this sort of thing before, so I decided to make all of the photos black and white, and tried to stay with an ice-cream colour background palette of mauve's, pinks, greens and yellows. So this is the theme(ish) that I stuck with. The only exception to this was the first page, as it was the paper that came with the album, and is the same as the front of the album. I believe it is by K&Co, but can't be sure.

Be sure to stop by for the remaining pages of the album..
